A Notification # Blog Entry 06
1:00 PM0 Comments

Likes your.. Follows you... Heart your... Viewed your... These are words that give people a mixed emotions. I on the otherhand too feels ecstastic whenever people liked and reacted my profile pictures, my post, my status, views my days, my snaps, follows me on instagram and twitter.
As a millenial I'm one of those people who other than eating sleeping and studying spend most of their time using gadgets and often visit social media.

And being an active netizen I can see that some people strive to get hundreds or thousands of likes, hearts, followers, viewers that they forgot about the sense of social media and the very purpose of it. True expressing yourself and sharing things to others are one of its purposes, but lets not go beyond where we will try to decieve others, tatter our dignity, break the law, netizens must know how to show respect, kindness and truthfullness to others because thats how it is in the first place, the social media was not made to create an havoc but to give and recieves, inform and be informed, and more but definitely not to destroy humanity. One must learn to THINK before they CLICK.

Thank you for supporting our blog. Till next time hope you had a great day!

Social Media Hackings #Blog Entry 05
10:00 AM0 Comments

Hacking in Social Media Nowadays, millions of internet users regularly visit thousands of social website to keep linking with their friends, share their thoughts, photos, videos and discuss even about their daily-life. Example of these are Facebook, twitter and Instagram.

The reason that social media accounts are hacked is to force shares. This happened to a friend of mine on Facebook recently. He had shared and tagged many friends in a link to a website full of nude women. A friend of mine is gay. It did not take any special computer knowledge to know that he was hacked. These types of hacks can be more harmful than you think. Let us say that one of your friends is not a gay man and wants to see these naked women. The other reason someone will hack your social media is to steal information from you. This can be your password itself so that they can steal it and use it to try to sign into accounts you have with banks and online retailers. This can be information about your place of work. This can be a crazy stalker trying to find out what your plans. I already experienced being hacked in social media, one of my Facebook account being hacked, I just know her in Facebook and it is my fault because I gave my email account and password to her because she said that she was able to change my email account in Facebook I'm just a new user of face book back then and I don't have any idea in Facebook. It all starts from one click. You might not experiencing being hack as of now but don't wait to be one of those victim.

We need to be more aware on how you can protect yourself from being hacked based on my research a hacker gets hold of one piece of information, your email as an example, and then uses a tool to guess your password. This can be as simple as a password recovery tool altered for criminal purposes. You can protect your social media accounts from this by having complex passwords. Make sure they’re not common words. Mix upper and lower case and include at least 12 characters. I use 15 now. These are nearly impossible to crack via brute force hacks. As a student, we really need to be more careful on what we do especially in social media.

That's all for today hope you like my entry and please continue supporting all the members of our team.

The Pros and Cons of Using Gadgets #Blog Entry 04
1:30 PM0 Comments

Hi to our avid readers and viewers, I'm Hannah! Finally I got to access our blog! I'm here to give my opinion on how gadgets and social media affects as and how really helps us in academic purposes.

We all know that gadgets now a days are blooming, specially in our generation. Because we use gadgets as our anti-depressant and to communicate with other people, especially with our relatives abroad and our long lost friend. We cam also uses gadgets to play some games to improve our critical thinking skills. Now a days it looks like that we can't live without are gadgets, specifically our smartphones. Because we our in to photography now. Where people loves to take pictures and post it in their social media accounts such as Facebook and Instagram. They also take pictures when they were an accident along their ways. Through that we can easily inform about the happenings around the world with just scrolling and visiting some informative sites or pages without watching television. But we should always be reminded that not all that we see or read in social media are fact informations. Because some of it are fake news. So we should not always share informations without using our critical thinking skills or if it's not from a reliable sources. Always remember that ``Think before you click."

In terms of on how gadgets helps us in learning academically. We students now a days uses gadgets
in reviewing for our exams and searching informations for our assignments. We can also use our gadgets in capturing some slides in some powerpoint presentations, since were already in a generation that is in modern learning. And it can also helps us to communicate with our classmates to ask some informations and can talk in a group using group chats so that we can share our ideas and talk in a video call through our internet connections.

This are just some of the impact of gadgets and social to us. However, we should always keep in mind that even it's really helpful and useful for us. We should not abused it and not used it to harm others. We should also still build communication in person and not just in social media. Lastly, limit ourselves in using it to avoid blurring of our eye sights, dryness of eyes, sleep disorders and having a photophobia or sensitivity to light.

Thank you everyone! Have a nice day and always keep safe. God Bless us all!

The Optimistic Rookie #Blog Entry 03
12:13 AM0 Comments

Hi there! So this will be the third entry of our blog and after having different discussions from the previous entries, I hope that you gain a lot of relevant information. Moving on, I would like to introduce to you the new topic we will be dealing with and maybe you will be somehow confused regarding the title itself but this is mainly focused on “online virality” and “emotions.”

In today’s generation, social media is widely used by everyone and sharing online becomes part of modern life. Stories, photos, videos and other posts are usually shared because of its informative content or just the feeling of relativity of the netizens to that particular subject and due to continuous sharing of these, it would become viral. According to IGI Global, “online virality is the spread of information given through a social media, which occurs when the online community, that receives that information, decides to share the message with other users.” However, this also have a corresponding impact to someone’s emotion.

(Hey! Have some time to look at these photos I’ve got from my Twitter. I just want to share the postivity and I hope you’re also having that!)

People tend to share their emotional experiences through posting in social media to lessen what they are feeling at that moment, to let others know how they feel (either extreme happiness, excitement or even sadness) or they just want to have deeper social connections.  It is not just by posting personally or directly but it can also be done by sharing, retweeting (in Twitter), or by simply liking and having reactions with several posts of various pages in social media. In some way, these serve as an indication of what they really mean or want to express. Regardless of those, we are likely to have different reactions and opinions about a certain post. Some would make us curve smiles on our face, cry because of unending laughter and draw out the positivity throughout our day.  While others would bring negative thoughts and make us upset. But we should not focus on the negativity! In fact, we can easily prevent those stuffs by unfollowing pages that usually posts undesirable or we can simply ignore it. We just also need to be knowledgeable and sensitive enough about what we see and share to others for it will affect every individual.

Before this one ends, I just want to remind you that we are all “rookie” in our own way. We are the beginner of everything and do not get me wrong because there is nothing wrong with being a beginner for it leads to greatness. So let us be all the rookie of positivism and good vibes. Have a nice day ahead

Let's Talk about People Media #Blog Entry 02
10:30 PM0 Comments

Hi guys! Welcome back to our blog. Okay, I am not sure If I could do it great because this is my first entry and I'm still just starting to get used to it so yeah please bear with me guys. So before anything else let me introduce myself I am Ma. Rochelle Daliva but you can call me RM and in today's blog I have decided to talk about People Media.

So what about People Media, I know a lot of you might be wondering why I chose this topic for my first entry on our blog. It's just that this topic has caught a lot of my attention during our class discussion a few weeks ago which I cannot forget, because believe me or not that discussion was still stuck in my mind so I thought that it would be great to reflect what I learned in our class and might as well share it to you guys.

Before anything else let us first define what is People Media. People Media is an assembly of people with a common interest where they become the main means of mass communication. And according to our teacher, In other words people are media themselves since they have the ability for mass communication. A great example of this is the People in Media. and people in media are the people behind another form of media. They use other form of  media such as text media, visual media, multimedia, etc in disseminating information and imparting knowledge and the best example for this are the journalists or media practitioners. It's because the information that they provide comes from their expert knowledge or first hand experience of event before disseminating it to the people.

The other example is the People as Media.  If the people in media are the people behind another form of media, the people as media are the Media itself. Its the person that serves as the medium for another person to learn or acquire new knowledge. It can be opinion leaders but the best example for this according to our teacher are the endorsers of products that we see on commercials or advertisements.

That's all and I hope that I just help you guy on getting something from this blog and please continue visiting our blog, stay tune for more updated blog entry everyday. I am happy to be able to impart knowledge to you guys in my first ever entry, and again Thank you!

                                                                                                                                         ~ RM

Empowering Young Minds #Blog Entry 01
10:30 PM0 Comments

Hi! You might be wondering what this blog is about. But remember that in our intro, if you had visited it  I have said that this blog is about Media and Information literacy so meaning this would be informative and might as well focused on technology and the ones who used it during this generation the "Millennials".The generation who grew up on personal computers, tablets, smartphones and apps.

So, its not a wonder that this generation have been transforming and has always been inclined to technological advances. But how are this thoughts going to help empowering the said generation known as millennials, If the number one hindrance of experiencing the empowerment of young minds are also the technology and media that we are exposed to right now.

And because of that I decided to give my own opinion and perspective through the art of "blogging". Even though I know that for us younger generation "blogging" is not a good platform to be entertained or to invest additional time and effort, instead they would prefer to head on to YouTube, Facebook , Instagram, Twitter and other social media platforms on their phones.

Of course, millennials in all parts of the developed worlds are on this bandwagon. Why Bandwagon?
It is because its a natural tendency for humans to copy one another, even without realizing its meaning we like to be updated and still be part of social communties. So when we notice our social circle is doing the same thing or like "were on the same page" we tend to follow and go with the flow for it seems like everyone are doing so, might as well try it also that's the idea of bandwagon.

Let us say that the concrete example of this are the commercials or advertisements that we encounter in our everyday lives.

Now that we have known the negative side, let us find out the positive side of it. Even though we live in unconventional times and no one understands this more than the millennials. Many of them still see the positive side of technology or media in modern world. However because they all have mobile devices which they use as entry-points for entrepreneurship and opportunities like online shopping.

Either way let us not forget that it is extremely important to know who and what affects our generations. Its natural to have different opinions on the millennial generation and  what they are going to mean for our future because whether people will like them or not, they will still be our future. That's all for today! Have a blessed Monday everyone. Please stay tune for more updates on our blog.

Hello world!!!!!! #INTRODUCTION

Hi!!! Finally! I am able to access our very own blog after a long time..... . I know it sounds confusing of how literally I stressed out the word "our" but here's the thing, so basically this blog was created for our project in Media and Information Literacy where we got the topic about electronic portfolio. To be honest we actually do not have an idea on how it works but we believe that our main purpose is to share and express our own selves through the art of "blogging". So our team come up to this idea of starting our own blog considering that media would be a great topic to start and to deal with. And going back to what I am saying, again this blog is a group blog or should I say a collaboration blog from the ideas and thoughts of every member to the said topic.

So before anything else let me first introduce my fellow members starting from the left to right→
Alexise, Joel, Chrisha, Jofrancis, Jhun, Shiela,Yvonne ,Lalaine, Rose,Hannah, Jr. RM, and Charlyn.

Another thing again this blog is about media and information literacy, so it would be mainly about media itself and some reflections to a certain topics so please don't expect something beyond that.

Here's also the fun part that I want to share with you guys. For every entry of this blog we decided to have our names added or listed at the end of our own entry, so be sure to check out everybody's entry and stay tune for more updates on our blog. That's it for today! Here's to another day full of surprises and new experiences! #OngoingFirstEntry #Holyweekisnear
