Social Media Hackings #Blog Entry 05

Hacking in Social Media Nowadays, millions of internet users regularly visit thousands of social website to keep linking with their friends, share their thoughts, photos, videos and discuss even about their daily-life. Example of these are Facebook, twitter and Instagram.

The reason that social media accounts are hacked is to force shares. This happened to a friend of mine on Facebook recently. He had shared and tagged many friends in a link to a website full of nude women. A friend of mine is gay. It did not take any special computer knowledge to know that he was hacked. These types of hacks can be more harmful than you think. Let us say that one of your friends is not a gay man and wants to see these naked women. The other reason someone will hack your social media is to steal information from you. This can be your password itself so that they can steal it and use it to try to sign into accounts you have with banks and online retailers. This can be information about your place of work. This can be a crazy stalker trying to find out what your plans. I already experienced being hacked in social media, one of my Facebook account being hacked, I just know her in Facebook and it is my fault because I gave my email account and password to her because she said that she was able to change my email account in Facebook I'm just a new user of face book back then and I don't have any idea in Facebook. It all starts from one click. You might not experiencing being hack as of now but don't wait to be one of those victim.

We need to be more aware on how you can protect yourself from being hacked based on my research a hacker gets hold of one piece of information, your email as an example, and then uses a tool to guess your password. This can be as simple as a password recovery tool altered for criminal purposes. You can protect your social media accounts from this by having complex passwords. Make sure they’re not common words. Mix upper and lower case and include at least 12 characters. I use 15 now. These are nearly impossible to crack via brute force hacks. As a student, we really need to be more careful on what we do especially in social media.

That's all for today hope you like my entry and please continue supporting all the members of our team.
