                                                                   Fake News today
Hello readers!! I’am Ma.Rochelle Daliva and today I was about to discuss about Fake News In social Media. Fake News  is a misinformation or hoaxes spread via broadcast news media or online social media. Fake news is written and published with the intent to mislead in order to damage the real ones, entity. In today’s society, especially our generation we are probably know that social media has become a part of our everyday lives. We have access to all types of information in the palm of our hands through our cellphones, iPads and other handheld devices.

Social media, such as Facebook, Twitter, etc., has taken the technological world to a whole new level. Although we see how it can serve as positive through source of communication, it can also serve as a negatively such ascyber bullying and including the recent phenomenon that is commonly being referred to as “Fake News”. Several research studies have focused on the public’s reliance on social media for their information.  Hu, Liu and Zhang (2008) discovered people turn to their social media feeds for the news. That means that Twitter and Facebook, the platforms that have, in some ways, democratized news more than ever before, are allowing the public to be conned every single day by fake news that scrolls across their screen.
Smock, Ellison, Lampe and Wohn (2011) analyzed the reasons how people are being fed by fake news stories. Among the reasons they found was people tend to share a story particularly “fake news” they later found out was false.

Social Inequality #Blog Entry #11
8:22 AM0 Comments

Some of you are might familiar when you hear the word "Inequality in Society". This word might be a simple or familiar one but contains a very deep and serious content. Social inequality is characterized by the existence of unequal opportunities and rewards for different social positions or statuses within a group or society. It contains structured and recurrent patterns of unequal distributions of goods, wealth, opportunities, rewards, and punishments. This word may also be understood or be known as discrimination because when you treat unequally it means your also discriminating. Hundreds of millions of Millennials suffer from discrimination in the world. This not only violates a basic human right, but has wider social and economic consequences which perpetuate inequality while worsening social tensions. According to Ashley Crossman, Social inequality results from a society organized by hierarchies of class, race, and gender that broker access to resources and rights in ways that make their distribution unequal.

Two Main Theories of Social Inequality There are two main views of social inequality within sociology. One view aligns with the functionalist theory and the other aligns with conflict theory. Functionalist theorists believe that inequality is inevitable and desirable and plays an important function in society. Important positions in society require more training and thus should receive more rewards. Social inequality and social stratification, according to this view, lead to a meritocracy based on ability. Conflict theorists, on the other hand, view inequality as resulting from groups with power dominating less powerful groups. They believe that social inequality prevents and hinders societal progress as those in power repress the powerless people in order to maintain the status quo. In today's world, this work of domination is achieved primarily through the power of ideology--our thoughts, values, beliefs, world views, norms, and expectations--through a process known as cultural hegemony.

Effects of inequality There are a number of reasons why inequality may harm a country’s performance not only our country but also individuals who are living i a particular country. At a microeconomic level, inequality increases ill health and health spending and reduces the educational performance. These two factors lead to a reduction in the productive potential of the work force. At a macroeconomic level, inequality can be a brake on growth and can lead to instability. That's all for my blog. I hoped you learn and appreciate what is intended on it. I would like to share awareness that everyone of us are equally the same. We might think that other's are wealthy in different aspect but always remember that each one of us has it's own strength and weaknesses so let's all respect it. Always support and spread love. God Bless everyone!

The Power of Social Media # Blog Entry 10
4:30 AM0 Comments

All of us are aware of the existence of social media, even kids. Facebook, twitter, instagram are the most common examples of social media sites. But what is really the relevance of these sites? Let's discuss it one by one.

These social media sites helps us to connect with the people that we want to interact without spending so much money, and distance is not a problem here, even if they are nearby or very far, you can contact anyone specially your love ones abroad. The phrase "I'm just one call away" was replaced with "I'm just one chat away". It is also very relevant to the students like me. It makes our life easier, specially when we have group activities, and even if we don't have classes, we can discuss anything through chat, it saves a little time since we didn't have to gather in one place just to have brainstorming.

We can also share pictures or anything through posting and tweeting, by that our love ones will be updated with our life and they will know that we are doing good just by seeing those photos that we have posted.

Aside from the relevance, social media sites also have disadvantages and one of it is the social media addiction. Many of the teenagers became social media addict, meaning they tend to spend their whole time using their social media accounts leading to their education and health to be affected. And also social media became a bridge to cybercrimes, cyberbullying, cybersex and many more.

Social media has been very relevant to us and it will continue to be one if we will just use it in a proper way. We just have to know our limitations so that it will not affect anything or anyone including ourselves.
